Bloomin' lovely DIY herb wall

The school holidays are upon us and we've been busily painting, cutting, digging, splashing and having fun. This DIY project was one of our favourites from the week gone.
We used herbs or edible seedlings, like snow peas, climbing beans and cherry tomatoes. Once the climbing tomatoes take off, this herb wall will really look a treat.
We found this old pallet at Bunnings. The unpainted ones are free to take. I'm told that you can also source old pallets from tile and bathroom supply stores.
We painted our pallet like a rainbow.

We used normal acrylic paint, as well as some pink chalk board paint that we had leftover.

When it was all done, we left it outside to dry. Since it wasn't a particularly hot day and actually rained the whole afternoon, we left it overnight.
Next, we had Mr J screw our pot plants into place, using self driving screws that you can easily push in, without having to use a drill. Since I'm more dangerous than handy, I love that idea. We used a combination of buckets, pot plants and recycled plastic containers.

We did need to hammer some holes through the bottom for drainage first, before screwing them onto the wall. Then we added potting mix and either some seedlings or some seeds and gave it a good water.

When it was all done, it looked like this. Now we are very excitedly waiting on our plants to grow!
