DIY Coasters for Father's Day - possibly the easiest handmade gift ever! Plus it's perfect for serving him a nice, hot cuppa in bed.

You'll Need:

  • 4 white tiles per set (choose ones with a flat surface and no ribbing or texture)

  • 2 sheets of printed paper in a theme your Dad or special father figure will love

  • Good adhesive glue

  • waterproof sealant

  • alphabet stickers to spell "Dad" or your father figure's name

  • ruler or tape measure

Steps:

1. Measure your tiles and then decide how big your border will be.  Generally I like to leave half a centimetre around the edges, but be as creative as you like!

2. Cut your paper into the appropriate sized squares.  Try to make the first three as even as possible, but make the fourth about half the size to leave room for your stickers. Position them where you think looks best and then glue

3. Spell "Dad"  - or "Grandad" or a name of the person you wish to give these to, with your alphabet stickers

 4. Leave outside or on a window sill to dry for a minimum of a few hours.  Once completely dry, spray with your aerosol adhesive.  This is a job for an adult and must be done outside, since the smell can be quite strong...

Once dry, that's it.  Done!  A gorgeous, handmade gift for next to nothing.  We've made two sets - one for Daddy and one for Grandad.  And something tells me that our coffee-loving men folk are going to be wrapped with these!
