Edible paint...Scrumptious!
Paint. I know, I know, you can buy it in the shops. But hey, you can't eat store bought paint. And that's inevitably what most little folk will do at some point or another. So what to do about it? Well...make our edible paint and have some fun, of course!
This is what we like to call our 'Picnic Paint', because we make lots of scrumptious smelling, edible paints!
It's almost like a scratch and sniff and so easy to make. Simply add a few drops of natural food essence to match the colours that you make. For instance, we added strawberry essence to the pink paint, so that it actually smells and tastes like strawberries! YUM! We also tried orange essence in orange paint, coconut essence in white, apple to the green paint and vanilla essence in yellow. So, go and eat some paint!
You'll Need:
-
2 tbsp of corn flour (also known as corn starch)
-
4 tbs of cold water
-
2 drops food dye (your choice of colours)
-
1 drop natural food essence (optional)
Steps:
Here are
1. Combine corn flour and cold water. Mix well.
2. Add a few drops of chosen food dye until you have the desired colour. We are using "paint box red" here to make our strawberry paint. Repeat above steps for each colour.
3. Take your fruit...
4. and cut in half.
5. Use your strawberry halves to dip into the paint and...
create some sweet smelling strawberry pictures with our picnic paint!
