Little Mouse Cheese Board

For small children, the real meaning of Christmas often gets lost in the hype and excitement of new toys.  I always think that Christmas in July - being a little quieter (and with less toy commercials on tv), is the perfect time to try to instil the idea of sharing and giving.

So this Christmas in July, we decided to make some home made gifts.

To get him involved in the fun side of giving, Tadhg and I have been busily making gifts for our nearest and dearest.

Grandma loves cheese.  I mean looooves cheese.  As do I, incidentally.  So we decided that Grandma would love this Little mouse cheese board from Tadhg.

We bought the Christmas tree chopping block from Kmart for $7.99.  Tadhg painted it green and the brush strokes actually made the tree branches look very realistic!

We printed the Mouse and the Cheese templates and cut them out of red and white polka dot paper, before gluing them onto the board.

Finally, once dry we painted the entire board in a light coating of water based clear varnish from Bunnings to seal it.  Any DIY or hardware store will stock this.

What Grandma wouldn't love this gorgeous hand made gift?

If you would like to have a go at making this Little Mouse Cheese Board, simply shoot me an email and I'd be happy to send you my hand drawn mouse and cheese templates to get you started.

Happy Christmas in July!
