Milk Bottle Minions
Milk bottles make pretty cool puppets. Who knew? Plus, the upside is that this craft idea could not get any easier. Seriously.
Here's how to make one at home if your household has gone a little "Minion mad".
You'll Need:
-
1 x clean, empty milk carton
-
yellow acrylic paint
-
paintbrush
-
1 old black (or other coloured) sock
-
1 x bottle top (we used a laundry liquid lid for depth, but the milk bottle cap will also work)
-
1 x googly eye
-
1 x old baby/ doll singlet
Notes:
According to the movie, Minions come in a range of clothing, some with two eyes and some with just the one. You can be as creative as your old socks and dress-up drawer allows!
Steps:
1. Take your clean, empty and dry milk bottle and peel the labels off.
2. Paint bright yellow
3. While waiting for it to dry, take your old sock and snip off the toe and heel. You can also use the leg portion, but this tends to be less stretchy and wide.
4. Place your sock over the top of the (dry) milk bottle like a face mask.
5. Snip a little hole and tear until your bottle top or lid fits snugly inside. You can secure this by cutting into the milk bottle and pushing the lid inside.
6. Glue on your googly eye
7. Take your string and ask an adult to cut into 10 cm lengths
8. Take your milk bottle and using scissors (to be done by an adult), pierce small holes in the roof. Push the string through the holes with the tip of a pencil
9. Pull your baby singlet or chosen clothing over your milk bottle, like overalls
Ta-da! Your puppet is ready to play!
